Supermarket Buyer at BBV Marketplace Limited

The Retail Buyer is responsible for planning and selecting a range of products to sell in the supermarket ensuring the right product mix is available on time every time and at the right price to meet customer demand. The buyer will study and ensure to fully understanding customer needs so as to maximize profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices.

Job Description

 Analysing consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends

 Sourcing, selecting and negotiating terms of contracts with suppliers towards maximizing sales and profits for the supermarket;

 Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products;

 Regularly reviewing performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels

 Managing plans for stock levels

 Prices merchandise in line with corporate pricing strategies, maintaining competitiveness while maximizing sales and profit potential

 Liaising with shop personnel to ensure supply meets demand;


Required Education/Experience/Skills:

 Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration or relevant field.

 Minimum of five years post qualification experience in grocery food and non-food category buying in a world-class retail store.

 Must be familiar with a variety of the retail concepts, practices, and procedures.

 Should have extensive supplier contacts

 Strong financial and commercial skills

 Proven track record of success at retail buying.
